CASE STUDY

A custom WordPress transformation for a mission-driven membership community

She Runs It needed more than a visual refresh. The platform had to support memberships, donations, event registrations, job postings, and internal reporting without friction. We rebuilt the experience to make the site faster, easier to navigate, and far more efficient for both members and the internal team. She Runs It’s live site already shows the depth of its ecosystem: membership levels, an events calendar, job bank, member directory, and donation flow, all serving a large professional community. (She Runs It) A full WordPress rebuild that turned a slow, clunky platform into a streamlined system for memberships, donations, event management, and revenue-generating actions.

01 The Challenge

A nonprofit platform that couldn’t keep up with its own ecosystem.

She Runs It needed a full digital revamp to support a complex nonprofit ecosystem. The existing platform was clunky, hard to navigate, and error-prone, which made it difficult for users to complete key actions like joining, renewing, donating, registering for events, or posting jobs. The site had to serve a broad community of professionals while also supporting internal operations and reporting. (She Runs It)

As a long-standing nonprofit community with a large membership base, She Runs It needed a platform that could handle multiple user types and multiple workflows at once. The site supports member benefits, a member directory, mentoring, events, job bank access, partnership opportunities, and donation-driven fundraising. It also offers tiered membership levels and role-based access, which made the old setup difficult to scale cleanly. (She Runs It)

She Runs It’s own site structure reflects this kind of complexity: members can access benefits like mentoring, networking, events, and the member directory; the job bank supports both free member postings and paid non-member postings; and the donation page supports year-round programming and education funding. (She Runs It)

02 The Solution

A custom WordPress structure built around usability, scalability, and operational clarity.

We rebuilt the entire platform on WordPress with a custom structure designed around usability, scalability, and operational clarity. The new system focused on simplifying key journeys while preserving the flexibility needed for a mission-driven nonprofit: membership registration and renewals, donation processing, event sign-ups, paid and free job postings, and internal reporting. We also introduced role-differentiated experiences for members and guests, so each audience could move through the site with less friction.

The biggest win was not only that the site launched successfully, but that the key workflows stayed smooth after launch. Membership actions, donations, event sign-ups, and job-related transactions continued to run through a more stable system, giving the team a platform they could trust and scale.
